Is 4 too young for full time school? UK mums your experiences please

Is 4 too young for full time school? UK mums your experiences please?
In the UK all kids start full time school at 4 years old....my daughter is due to go to nursery in January and she's just 3...she'll get two terms of Nursery and then start school when she is just 4....it seems so little to go and spend all day at school. Other countries seem to send their kids later....what were your experiences? The nursey place are happy to have her attend for two hours a day...so thats not a big concern...I know you have to let them go in the end but its school next year Im a bit worried about.

hey hun i think it completely differs with each child. It depends on how socially confident they are and how advanced they are. For example my daughter turns 4 on 13th September.. so she only starts part time nursery this year. Had she been born 2 weeks earlier she would have started nursery last year and starting reception class this year!! In my daughters case, she is totally ready to start full time. She has been attending playgroup since she was 2.5 years old and loves it. I'm disappointed she will only go part time but hopefully she'll go full time after Xmas. If you dont feel comfortable sending your daughter to nursery full time, can you not opt for a part time place? if not - then maybe look into playgroups in your area, they usually run for 3 hours each morning and are a great way to 'break your child in' easily! good luck hun xxxxxxx

Hello this september i have a 5 yr old and a 4 yr old starting school so my nerves will be on edge!!! I think 4 is ok if the child can go to the toilet dress themselves, my 2 kids can't wait i better hurry up and sew in their name tags. The 4 yr old is starting reception for the whole day. While my 5 yr old will be starting his first year at school. Then its only me and my 2 and half yr old at home. Good luck and don't worry

My parents are British and My sister and I were born in America so Sister started at 5 years old and I started when we lived near Sheffield so I started early. I had a minor case of dyslexia and I truely believe that starting early was what taught me how to deal with it so well. I think that if I had waited until 5 i would have picked up on alot of bad behaviors and I never would have been able to correct them. No one would ever tell that I have minor dyslexia if I never mentioned it. Not to mention the school that I went to in England was just so much better. I wish I could afford to go over to UK and let my daughter start a year early and have one year in those schools......But it does depend on the child. My daughter and most children of US parents are in Daycare fulltime so when they transition to school it isn't much of a shock. Maybe start her with 2 hours now but closer to when school starts maybe send her for longer days so it isn't much of a shock.

it would be good to go to a drama school and to get an agent sorry i don't know any but you might have to go to a drama school away from where you live if you want the best for you. but if you are smart and can do well at college then get your A levels so you've always got a back up performing arts is a hard thing to get into i'm in the exact same position as you i wanted to go to a performing arts college nut ma dad made me change my mind and get my Alevels but still do lessons outside of college and i am going to do performing arts at college as well so i get abit of both then study an academic ceree at uni while trying to get into the theatre so keep your options open all the time. it hurts like hell letting go of your dream even a little but you have to, to get the most you can out of life. prepare to be rejected alot as well. i know i haven't exactly answered your question but i thought you should know the options. when you get a agent you should pay any think upfront ligament agents take 10% of your earnings not payed upfront. try to find some open auditions yourself so you get some experience because most of performing comes from performance not from what you learn in class. good luck with your cereer

If you are serious about acting and becoming a professional then training is the way to go.

If you are at least 5'9" and serious about modeling you really need to move to London, where most of the big agencies are located Top agencies are - Storm, IMG, Select, Models 1, Next, M and P, Cape, Premier

Which is the best veterinary school (UK)

Which is the best veterinary school (UK) ?
I really want to be a vet when im older. Im 15 and im a straight A/A* student in all subjects. I was wondering which of the 7 veterinary schools (Bristol, Cambridge, London, Nottingham, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Glasgow) in the UK are the best because I am interested in learning more about them. I didnt take a language at school incase that eliminates some of the ideas. If you hve any experience at any of these universities then I would be really grateful to hear about them. Cheers x

Yeah. No problem. All children must attend school by law so just call in and ask your local primary school. If they're full they'll give you a list of schools with places.

Sadly head teachers do not like to take children into school for short periods. The additional work it imposes on teachers is significant and there are often concerns when children enter SATs years, i.e. at ages 7 and 11. If your children are bright then schools are more likely to be welcoming than not. If your children have special needs head teachers often find reason to say no. I recommend that you visit a local primary school, state that you are new to the area, sell your children to the head teacher and get a place. Then when it comes time to leave let the school know with apologies and thanks. I understand that this seems slightly underhand but it will make entry much easier. I would love to say that everything would be easy without this but the realities of life in the world of education prevent this.
